This guitar is something I produce that is similar in looks to the standard Australian
arched back design.
My version is different in that it does not involve laminating many layers of veneer with
epoxy to build up the back and sides. I use a high tech composite method that greatly increases
the strength and decreases the weight. This results in a back that is able to vibrate more
like the back of a traditional instrument, but still provide the excellent projection and
volume that the arched back provides. These are great instruments and are well suited for
players who travel. The instruments are more structurally stable than the traditional design
especially in varying humidity situations.
These
instruments are available in a variety of timbers, and either in my Hauser or Santos style.
The guitars featured here are in Santos Rosewood and Figured Tasmanian Blackwood. Other
available timbers are Brazilian Rosewood, Wenge, Padauk, Figured Tasmanian Myrtle and many
more. The timber selected for the back and sides is not as important in these guitars as
it is in the traditional instruments. This is partly due to the fact that the back is produced
in a different manner and thus has a different effect on the outcome.
The body of the instruments is a little deeper because of the arch in the back. With my design the weight balance of the instruments is not uneven as it can be in some Australian Arched back designs. Please contact me with any requests or question you may have about these guitars. I am happy to discuss them with you and provide you with more details.
